One of the best things about regular practice is that it really keeps you limbered up- and you stumble upon things that you didn’t know you couldn’t do yet in terms of limb independence.

Give this a try;

R L R L R L R R  L R L R L R L L    repeat.

K       K       K         K       K       K     etc

Loop the 16 note pattern with a continuous rolling ‘3’ kick pedal note.

Try it with your left foot too.

Teaching at Music Ape Studios

It’s been really cool this last few months getting into doing regular lessons with some new students at Music Ape Studios. As well as teaching from peoples homes I like to have a decent studio setup available to take people that want to learn away from home, weather it’s because they don’t have  kit yet, they don’t have a place to play yet, or they just like a whole new routine.

I’ve been getting into writing the workshops I’m going to do at St.Werberg’s Apple day too.

Playing wise, I’ve been writing some new bits with various projects, and practicing some new techniques that I’ve come across. The balance between practice time solo, and playing with others in key.

Freelance Drumming in Bristol UK

I’ve fallen in Love with Drums. With Rhythm and music and dancing and social activity…. If anything my love for the formers inhibit the latter; now I’ve even moved to the other side of this wonderful Island to get more work, playing freelance, teaching lessons, finding inspiration, thriving in street performance and teaching those much younger, and much older than me, what I’ve learnt,

hoping the whole time they’ll be interested…

and that’s why I love doing this!
